Mahler at the Konserthuset in Stockholm

The Stockholm Konserthuset’s Mahler series is in full swing, presenting all of Mahler’s orchestral works in just 12 days. Eight orchestras join together to present this tightly packed presentation of Mahler’s music. 

The series is accompanied by a large exhibition and a 200 page programme book, created together with Henry-Louis de La Grange.

Swedish Radio is recording all the symphonies, some of which will be broadcast live.

Gustavo Dudamel’s Inaugaral Concert in Los Angeles

Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel gave his inaguaral concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic yesterday, including a performance of Mahler’s 1st Symphony.

Mahler’s Fourth for Chamber Orchestra in Italy

The Orchestra della Toscana will give the Italian premiere of Mahler’s 4th Symphony in the reduced version by Klaus Simon. Isaac Karabtchevsky conducts, the soloist is Monica Bacelli.

Mahler and the Sydney Symphony in 2010

Sydney Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2010 season, including an impressive “Mahler Odyssey 2010-2011″. Vladimir Ashkenazy conducts six separate programs in the first year of celebrations:

Claudio Abbado – Rückkehr an die Mailänder Scala mit Mahlers 2. Symphonie

Claudio Abbado dirigiert nach 17 Jahren wieder ein Konzert an der Mailänder Scala. Am 4. Juni 2010 plant der Stardirigent sein Comeback im Mailänder Opernhaus mit Mahlers zweiter Symphonie, die er bereits bei seinem Debüt an der Scala im Jahr 1963 dirigiert hatte. Anlass ist der 150. Mahler Festival at the San Francisco Symphony

As reported in the Los Angeles Chronicle, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra starts its 2009/10 season with a festival of Mahler’s music. Michael Tilson Thomas (see our video interview) is joined by soloists Susan Graham and Thomas Hampson.
