Mahler and the Sydney Symphony in 2010

Sydney Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2010 season, including an impressive “Mahler Odyssey 2010-2011″. Vladimir Ashkenazy conducts six separate programs in the first year of celebrations:

Program 1: Mahler 1 (10 ”“ 13 February)

Program 2: Mahler 8 (18 & 20 February)

Program 3: Mahler 5 (20 ”“ 22 May)

Program 4: Mahler’s Song of the Earth (26, 28 & 29 May)

Program 5: Mahler 4 (24, 26 & 27 November)

Program 6: Mahler 3 (2 ”“ 4 December)

New Zealand International Arts Festival 2010

The New Zealand International Arts Festival has just announced that its 2010 festival will open with a performance of Mahler’s Eighth Symphony. Vladimir Ashkenazy will conduct the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
